My quick review of Mountain Lion

Everyone else seems to be giving there two cents on Mountain Lion. Mine won’t be over 26,000 words, but here’s a couple things I’ve found.

  • Overall, Mountain Lion is MUCH faster than any previous OS. I can’t describe what it is, but over really it just feels like my Mac (Macbook Air) was given shot of espresso.
  • I’ve switch to Safari for the time being, it seems to be a big quicker than Chrome.
  • Co-workers aren’t all that impressed – one even called it “Mountain Cougar.”
  • Messages is great with iPhone iMessages, it’s great to be able to text people from my computer.
    • I had one message not go through, but it seems really reliable, so far.
  • The synced tabs feature in Safari is really cool – it shows what other tabs are open on your other iOS devices (iPhone/iPad).
  • There are some subtle, but nice improvements to the user interface:
    • The new dock is beautiful.
    • Whenever you download a file, a progress bar appears over the file (think downloading an iPhone App).
  • Notifications are nice – but I haven’t used them a lot. I don’t think you should have a ton of notifications in the first place, but I can see it being nice for Twitter and Facebook (coming in the fall).
  • There are some nice new multi-touch features that make working easier.

Would I recommend it? Absolutely. It’s a no-brainer at only $20.
