2013 has come and gone. It’s been crazy, it’s been fun and it’s been a lot of work. A lot of people have asked what I’ve been working on, so I thought I’d write a quick post.
We moved to Colorado a couple months ago to be closer to Jessica’s (my wife) family. We moved, stayed with their parents in Fort Collins, CO while I commuted to Denver, CO (about an hour and a half each way). We searched long and hard to find a great home in Denver and moved in a couple of months ago. We live right behind the (semi) world famous Snooze Restaurant. It’s not uncommon for three hour waits on a weekend. I wake up, put my name in and come back until they text us. Let us know if you’re ever in town.
I’m extremely grateful for the job I landed in Colorado. I’m working in one of the most random and exciting companies I’ve ever worked at. I technically work at Banner Media Group and Banner Sports. The former is a full-service agency helping clients grow their business, the later is working with professional athletes from the NFL, MLB, NASCAR, NBA and UFC to help them grow their personal brand through social media, digital and endorsement deals.
This falls under the umbrella of a multi-family office and a private equity firm, which works really well together.
Feel free to let me know if you have any questions about athlete endorsements, venture capital or just advertising in general. In short, I’m having a lot of fun.
I’d encourage any young person to look for a job that wants YOU, not to just to fill a vacancy. Those employers will be the best you can imagine. Look for companies that want to make money. I know that sounds totally obvious, but it’s not in practice. Find companies that will equip you to make things happen, not to follow some rigid rules. Follow the money. Invent your own destiny. Make stuff happen.
I truly hope to be at my current company for a long time.
